Owen

Owen is a 17-year-old boy who injured his left leg during birth and subsequently had his left leg amputated at three months of age. Despite growing up with a limb difference, Owen is extremely athletic and enjoys swimming, basketball, and running.

As a lower limb amputee, Owen requires a specialized prosthetic leg that will allow him to run and train in the athletic activities that he loves. However, his medical insurance provider does not consider a prosthetic leg made for running or sports medically necessary and therefore will not cover the cost.

GIFTABILITY full funded and gifted Owen the Fillauer prosthetic running blade he needed to live the active lifestyle he loves. One of our affiliate partnering organizations (Amputee Blade Runners) funded and built his prosthetic socket.
